Findings:
higher LDL cholesterol = lower mortality
Netherlands, Leiden: people 85-95…
-divided: high 250+; med 200; low
-highest LDL:
lowest mortality & cancer & infection
-lowest LDL:
opposite on all counts!
Japan & USA in World War II…
-Japan: much higher strokes
-Japan: 1/3 lower cholesterol
After war, Japan ate more animal
foods & cholesterol rose
Result? strokes dropped dramatically
