Very small, dense LDL particles…
If pushing huge amounts of
triglycerides, can’t get rid of it,
[if burn carbs, not fat] fat hangs around in blood,
becomes smaller and denser
Liver will not accept these,
they go to macrophage
[scavenger receptor]

Small, dense LDL become
oxidized & glucose sticks to it
[glycation] Macrophages love this!!

Small, dense LDL get
through blood vessel wall
-macrophages seek it out

Small, dense LDL get
through blood vessel wall
-macrophages seek it out
If expose macrophage to LDL
they make more scavenger
receptors [more inflammation] -oxidized LDL?

When lipids oxidize,
make cytokines & signal
-everyone come here:
-causes more inflammation
Same with glycation, signal
sent out
So: inflammation & plaque
continue to grow
