Ken Berry & Chris Knobbe: veggie oils bad

Correlation does not prove causation
-but, must have correlation before
able to prove causation
Since there is no correlation between
saturated fat & heart disease
-CANNOT PROVE SATURATED FAT
CAUSES HEART DISEASE
But, vegetable has a STRONG, POSITIVE
correlation with heart disease, so
-it may very well be a serious cause

So, researchers should have
investigated vegetable oils &
heart disease…
but due to funding from Proctor
& Gamble and others,
vegetable oils were not researched
[studies that showed poor results
from vegetable oils were suppressed
for decades] –from Nina Teicholz, “The Big Fat Surprise”

In 19th century there was virtually
no coronary heart disease
-only 3 papers on heart attacks
-first US heart attack: 1912
-by 1930s heart disease became
leading cause of death
-and has stayed #1 since
