BEN BIKMAN a | INFERTILITY: main causes: insulin resistance & hyperinsulinema
presents episode 971 | Dr Ben Bikman
Anthony Chaffee MD podcast

Key point often misunderstood by low
carb folks…
-cannot have insulin resistance without
also having hyperinsulinemia
Physiological insulin resistance: body gets
into that state to serve valuable purpose
To Promote Growth: pregnancy & puberty
“Regardless whether it is pathological
[like Alzheimer’s] or physiological
[pregnancy & puberty] it is the same:
1-insulin is not working properly
2-blood insulin is elevated

Look at 2 types of infertility
men: ED erectile dysfunction
women: PCOS polycystic ovary syndrome
in ED: it is the insulin resistance…
-insulin incapable of prompting vaso-
dilation, so: high blood pressure & ED
in PCOS: it is hyperinsulinemia…
-in ovaries, cells capable of rapidly
converting testosterone into estrogens
[all estrogens were once testosterone] -insulin INHIBITS that conversion, so: PCOS
