-your body has to deal with this intake of energy
-pancreas is fuel pressure sensor:
~when blood fuel is low, pancreas pumps out glucagon
~when blood fuel is too high, pancreas pumps out insulin:
~stores glucose as glycogen
~stores triglycerides as fat
~stores amino acids as protein
-eat carbs and insulin goes up a lot
-eat bunch of fat, and slowly insulin will rise
leads to chronic elevated insulin
If super lean, dieted down all fat cells, fuel in blood stream is low…
-insulin is super low
But, if overly fat, fat is coming out of fat cells, into circulation
-insulin is chronically high
(even when fasting, trying to shove fat back
into fat cells that don’t want it)
Therefore, prediabetics have high:
-free fatty acids
Flat CGM (continuous glucose monitor)
-but overly fat, still eating fat: insulin resistant
-if full carnivore, fasting glucose likely to be at high end of normal
-if fully carb-fueled, likely to wake up to glucose at low end of normal
-can’t really read too much into that
-many acute glucose changes are harmless
Example: if super lean, insulin sensitive fat cells
-low blood fuels, low insulin
Then go do crazy high intensity exercise…
-might spike glucose into diabetic range
-most harm is from energy toxicity
(too much fuel in blood & hitting mitochondria)
